This website is run by Kingskerswell Parish Council (KKPC). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
The website structure and text have been designed to be as simple as possible to use and understand.
2. How accessible is KKPC website:
KKPC Website is a new fully responsive website, which meets almost all of the regulations from a technological standpoint. However we understand that we still have work to do to improve areas such as:
- We need to add alternative text to our images
- Ensure that any “click here” links are removed or updated
- Some older documents aren’t fully accessible to screen reader software
- Some pages contain tables used for layout
- Some pages need improved hyperlinking

We are working to ensure that as much text as possible has a reading age of 11 or below.
Issues with documents
Some of our documents are essential to provide information about how the KKPC conducts its business. The accessibility regulations don’t require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018, or if they’re not essential to providing our services.
We aim to ensure that any new documents we publish meet accessibility standards.
Some pages contain tables used for layout. This may not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1. We aim to resolve as required.
Whilst we have not identified anything that qualifies as disproportionate burden for KKPC, as a Parish Council we have limited funds and resources to make all the upgrades to the website at the speed we might like to. However, we remain committed to making those changes.

This website was tested on 21 August 2020. The test was carried out internally by Kingskerswell Parish Council.
8. What we’re doing to improve accessibility:
KKPC is committed to having a fully compliant and accessible website to ensure all parishioners can access all the information they require at the point of need.
To that end, as part of the work to produce our ongoing Communications Plan and we are committed to refreshing and upgrading all the content on our website, as soon as is possible and practical.
